Connect It Utility Services, a multi-utility service provider based in the South of England, approached Foursquare Workspace with a view to kitting out their new warehouse and office after outgrowing their existing premises in just two years. The unit they had selected needed careful planning to allow for future expansion and departmentalisation.
Brief
After a site meeting with the client where we were able to assess the building as a whole and facilities available, we began the process of space planning for both the office and the warehouse.
Following this we returned to our office where we designed a modern and functional layout for the whole building that would accommodate all of the clients needs. Once we were awarded the project we worked with the client on minor variations to ensure they were 100% happy with the plans. This was done without extending the project lead time.
Solution
The work carried out was split into two areas:
Warehouse
As a safety measure a 60 metre fire wall separating the warehouse from the office was built in order to protect the building itself and staff. A brand new High Bay lighting system was also installed into the warehouse area to provide staff with adequate visibility while they worked.
With the potential of future expansion in mind, bespoke training bays were built in the warehouse so the client could train new starters within a high quality environment.
Access Control and CCTV was installed in the warehouse and throughout the whole facility.
Office
The first step was to divide the office area up into separate spaces, in order to allow the client to effectively departmentalise. A mixture of solid and glazed walls were used with acoustics and durability in mind.
Low quality carpet that was left in the unit was uplifted and we then worked with the client alongside our Design Team to create a new floor layout that incorporated their corporate colours in different areas and fitted seamlessly with the overall plan of the office.
Acoustic glass meeting rooms were created throughout the office to give staff a private area to hold meetings. As a personal touch, the company logo was applied to the manifestation on the front of the glass.
Brand new data cabling and electrics were ran throughout the office in order to accommodate for the new modern technology. This included a variety of audio-visual solutions that served unique functions based on the requirements of each meeting room.
As one of the final steps a variety of furnishings were installed. This included banks of bench desking complete with operator seating, pedestals and monitor arms. Meeting tables and seating were added into the new glass meeting rooms alongside large TV screens.
A full canteen area and multiple tea points were installed so staff can take their lunch away from their desk and unwind in an informal environment. As well as this, a breakout area was created with sofas and soft seating.
Finishing
The building has been transformed from an empty unit into a bright and modern workspace.
The warehouse has become a functional area where work can be carried out safely and efficiently. Meanwhile the office is spacious with excellent facilities for staff including smart meeting rooms and welcoming breakout facilities. Additionally there is a capability for future expansion and departmentalisation.
From the moment you walk into the reception the renovated space commands a level of professionalism from this rapidly expanding firm.
